Access Trikes has a simple goal: enable people who can’t ride a bicycle to experience the mobility and freedom of cycling. Trike Face is what we call the sheer joy that our clients feel when they go on that first ride. Our biggest challenge is getting the word out to people who would love to ride, but don’t know how many challenges our trikes can overcome. That’s where you come in.

The role

At Access Trikes you'll be an activist, guide, builder, and relentless problem solver. Your efforts and insights will directly shape the success of a vital offering that pushes the boundaries of what is possible in accessible cycling. The equation is simple: You bring the energy and ambition, we'll collaborate on product-specific expertise, and together we’ll empower individuals who can no longer ride two-wheelers to get back on the bike path, rediscovering freedom, fitness, and fun.

The job has two aspects: going into the community to educate people and helping our founder and mechanic adapt the trikes to each customer.

Typical day

·  Ride one of our trikes to visit physical therapists, bike shops, senior centers, bike events, and other places where people with an interest in cycling might be found. This is not a sales job: you will be starting conversations and letting people know that this is an option. 

·  Organize lunch and learns where people can try out trikes and ask questions. 

·  Pat, our founder, is in a wheelchair with a compromised voice. You will help him educate fit customers when they come for test rides. This involves simple tasks which we can teach you. 

·  Lead group rides.

·  Update social media to build community.

·  Help us solve the puzzles our clients give us. There is a huge variety of physical challenges which often require creative solutions.

The right fit

You're an outstanding match for this role if you are:

• Passionate about bikes, alternative transportation, accessibility, and physical/mental health
• A charismatic speaker and doer who can clearly and sensitively communicate with a diverse range of customers
• A deeply empathetic and active listener who understands the unique physical challenges of our clients, working closely with the owner and service manager to find the perfect trike solutions
• Proactive, organized, and endlessly resourceful, you're detail-oriented and focused on overcoming obstacles. 
• A determined outreach champion with a fearless ability to connect and spread the word about adaptive cycling
• Friendly, engaging, and helpful
• A driver’s license is a plus, but we refuse to make it a requirement
• A team player willing to contribute where needed, from taking out the recycling to solving engineering challenges. You’re all in for startup life!
